" Kenneth R. Schubert, 62, passed away at home on Monday, December 24. Born on February 22, 1945 in Harriman, TN, he was the son of the late Newell and Augusta “Rose” (Evans) Schubert. He has lived in S. Hadley since 1999, and had previously lived in Chicopee. He graduated from high school in 1963 and entered the Air Force in January of 1964. He proudly served for 27 years, traveling extensively and retired at the level of Major in 1991. Kenneth went on to another career as an Admission Counselor for Cambridge College and retired in November 2007. Besides his parents, his beloved wife Patricia (Skelly) preceded him in death in 2003 along with his two brothers Bobby Ray (1976) and Woodrow (2007). He leaves two sons, Daniel of New Orleans, LA and Kenneth, II of Holyoke, MA, his adored sisters, Joyce Hatfield of Tunnel Hill, GA and Juanita Hichey of Knoxville, TN and a brother Newell Edward, Jr. of Rossville, GA. He is also survived by his most beloved granddaughter Brittany Ann Schubert as well as nieces and nephews and many friends. Calling hours are Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte. 116) followed by a service to remember his life at 6:30 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be Friday, January 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to either Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, 01040 or Shriner’s Hospital, Carew St., Springfield."
