Kenneth "Ken" Robert Shearer of Mokelumne Hill, CA, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento at the age of 71. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 24, 1943 to the late Harry, Jr. and Betty Jane (Sandstrom) Shearer. Ken was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army where he learned photography. Richard, a mutual friend, played match maker and introduced them. After dating for one year, the couple married on April 8, 1982 in Virginia City, NV. Ken worked as a commercial photographer for 35 years. He specialized in food photography with a business in Albuquerque, NM for eight years. His photography can still be seen in airports and Costco. Ken was willing to go anywhere and had a steady business. He traveled to Saudi Arabia for a month taking photos of construction projects. The Fleetwood Company hired him to take pictures of modular homes all over the United States. Ken created Windows of Illusion using his pictures of scenery and building illuminated windows to show them off. He sold his business at the perfect time, just before computers took over. Ken and Ninette traveled for fun to Bali, Hawaii, Mexico, Europe and drove their motorhome up and down the Baja Peninsula. In retirement he created rusty metal garden art and sold it at street fairs. Ken loved giving advice and enjoyed telling stories. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ninette Shearer of Mokelumne Hill; daughter, Diana Griffin, of Ione, CA; son, Zeke Shearer of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Elysia Buck, Beth Mizar; great-grandchildren, Kaylin Buck, Addison Buck; nieces, Tara Tibbetts, Shannon Davis; and nephew, Shane Shearer. He is preceded in death by his nephew, Ron Tibbetts. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, Jackson, CA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Memorial contributions may be made to A-PAL, P. O. Box 190, Jackson, CA 95642.
