Kenneth Allen Smith
April 23rd, 1949 - August 1st, 2019
Kenneth Allen Smith, 70, passed into peace to be with our Lord God on Thursday, August 1, 2019 in Salinas, CA. Raised by his mother and stepfather (the late Hermine and Willie Tanner), Kenneth was Born in Chester, PA on April 23, 1949. It was there where he attended school, graduating from Chester High School in 1968. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in English at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Kenneth later joined the Army. Initially stationed at Ft. Ord, California, he was honorably discharged from the Presidio of San Francisco after serving a second term. After completion of military duty Kenneth eventually returned to education. As an educator he worked with children grades K-12 until he retired. His memory is cherished by his wife of 50 years: Elaine Cleveland Smith, his son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth Allen Smith, II and Michelle, two grandchildren: Corinne Smith and Kiana Smith. Siblings: Elizabeth Williams, Gloria Greene, and Willie Tanner, Jr. Family Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA. A Memorial Service for friends and family will be be announced.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
