Kenneth B. Van Alstine, Sr.
March 15th, 1929 - January 27th, 2019
Kenneth B. Van Alstine, Sr., age 89, of Johnstown, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born March 15, 1929 in Gloversville, the son of Kenneth R. and Delilah Waller Van Alstine. He was graduate of Gloversville High School and Paul Smith College with a degree in Forestry. He served in the US Army Rangers. He owned and operated Van Alstine's Nursery and Tree Farm for many years and currently owned and operated Homestead Organics, a local composting company. Kenneth was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by four children, Kenneth B. Van Alstine Jr. (Susan), Valerie E. Kevlin (Thomas), Richard A. Van Alstine (Kathy) and Judith Antonucci (John); a sister, Audrey Van Alstine; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Beverly E. Johnson Van Alstine. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 12 noon Thursday, January 31 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville where a Funeral Service will follow at 12:00PM with the Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Double H Ranch 97 Hidden Valley Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 or the North Main Street United Methodist Church, N.
