Kevin Blain Ryan
July 8th, 1965 - December 13th, 2023
Kevin Blain Ryan Kevin Blain Ryan, 58, of Perry, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at The Margaret Z Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, at 11:30am. Kevin put up a good fight after receiving an unexpected diagnosis of an aggressive form of Colon Cancer in April of this year. Kevin was born in Haines City, Florida on July 8th, 1965. His parents were Tommy Tarver Ryan of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Barbara Barber “Babs” Ryan of Daytona Beach, Florida. Kevin was the first of three children, all boys raised in Haines City, FL. Kevin graduated from Haines City High School in the Class of 1983 and graduated with an Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technologies from Tampa Technical Institute. On December 12, 1987, Kevin married the love of his life Elizabeth Anne “Betsy” Mott of Escanaba, Michigan at St Joseph’s Church in Lakeland, Florida. They had two children, Kalynn and Kyle Ryan. They started their family living in Auburndale, FL, and later relocated to Port St Lucie, FL, then back to Auburndale, FL. After leaving the workforce they lived in Suffolk, Virginia for a few years before settling into their current home in Keaton Beach area of Perry, Florida. Kevin fulfilled a career in communications and signalization, specializing in traffic signals. It’s a very technical, challenging and tedious career but he was an expert in his field and a great leader and mentor. Kevin was very athletic and competitive, he was a national champion archer, enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, and racquetball recreationally and competitively.He was a wealth of information and it always brought so much joy to him to pass his knowledge on to the next generation by coaching or consulting. Survivors include his wife, Betsy Ryan of Perry, FL; his children, Kalynn (Cody) Wachs of Suffolk, Virginia and Kyle (Courtney Hartman) Ryan of Auburndale, FL; grandchildren, Conner Strickland, Karter Wachs, Kristopher Wachs, Kynlee Ryan, and Kandace Wachs; his mother, Babs Ryan of Lakeland, FL; his brothers, Kraig Ryan of Perry, FL & Kelly Ryan of Haines City, FL. Kevin is also survived by 108 nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Tarver Ryan, grandparents, Lillian Tarver and Bob Wallace Ryan, Bernice More and Clarence Alton Barber. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 18th, 2023, at Kersey Funeral Home in Auburndale, Florida at 10AM and he will be laid to rest at St Michael’s Cemetery in Perronville, MI.
