Kevin Murray Schwartz

Kevin Murray Schwartz, 64, passed away peacefully in his home on August 22, 2023. He was born on August 15, 1959 to Gloria Sue (Martin) and Kenneth Murray Schwartz. He was a native of Gary, Indiana and was raised in Connecticut. Throughout his life, Kevin lived in Connecticut, San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz. He graduated from the City College of San Francisco with an Associate Degree in Nursing, from San Diego State with a Bachelor of Arts and Psychology, attended the Behavioral Counselor Association for Down Syndrome. Kevin worked as a Registered Nurse in the ICU, TCU, CVU. He worked in Honduras for the Peace Corps as an HIV Educator and in Spanish Studies. He also worked in San Francisco and San Diego for the AIDS Project. Kevin spent a great part of his life living in Santa Cruz with his loving husband, Mario Sanchez and surrounded by many friends. He was driven by a passion to nurture and care for humankind. Kevin loved spending time in his garden with hummingbirds, bees, and dragonflies. He loved the Hawaiian waters where he found peace and joy. He brought joy to everyone in his life through his kindness, generosity and positive spirit. He will be missed by many, but not forgotten! He will be celebrated by his family and friends in Santa Cruz. Kevin’s wishes were for contributions to be made to Wellbound Santa Cruz, San Francisco LGBTQ Center and ACA (Wamm Pytotherapies). May we always share laughter in good times, strength in hard times, and my memories at all times!
