Kim Allan McCall
February 3rd, 1952 - March 29th, 2018
Kim Allan (K.A.) McCall, of Tacoma, WA, passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2018. He spent his final moments surrounded by his loving family. He was a very generous soul, willing to give the shirt off of his back to those in need. He was generous with his love, time, and advice. He was a man of many long stories and tall tales. There wasn’t anything that Kim hadn’t experienced; he had been there and done that. The middle child of five, Kim was born on February 3rd, 1952 in St. Paul, MN to Howard & Lois McCall. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA in 1970. His family was the most important thing to him. He loved nothing more than hosting family get-togethers and being around his loved ones. His interests included collecting & restoring cars, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, crabbing & fishing, and doting on his beloved Boston Terrier, Buddy. In his early years he liked to hunt, golf, bowl & camp. He enjoyed good music, good friends, and good times. He met his soul mate, DeeDee Blake, in the fall of 2005 and they married on November 16th, 2009. After high school he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined Local Union 82 of Plumbers & Steam Fitters. As a proud 47-year union member, Kim spent his career working as a pipefitter. He would often travel where the work was in order to support his family. Notable projects include the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, one of the largest in the world, Satsop Nuclear Power Plant, Hec-Ed Pavilion at UW, Madigan Hospital, and Purdy Women’s Prison. Kim was a lifetime member of the Trivium Masonic Lodge XXII, in Tacoma. During his time as a Mason he held many positions. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a past Master Mason, as well as past President of William P. Dougherty Association. He was a mentor to many of his Masonic brothers. Kim is survived by his mother Lois McCall; his wife DeeDee; his children, Angela McCall (Jeff), Nicole Wanner (Ryan), Hillari Mohler (Andy); his grandchildren, Korbin, Kameron, Olivia, Emma, Wyatt, and his youngest grandchild due May 2018; his sister Shari Martinez, brother Scott McCall, sister Pam Hart-Newman (Jim), sister Kellie Schumacher; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard “Mac” McCall. An open house Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 from 1:30-4:30pm at Titlow Lodge in Tacoma, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one Kim’s favorite charitable organizations: Tacoma Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
