Kline Wesley Gidcumb
October 16th, 1942 - September 2nd, 2013
Kline Wesley (Wes) Gidcumb passed away suddenly at his home in Ben Lomond on Sept 2, 2013 at the age of 70. Wes is predeceased by his sister Billie Mullins, and survived by his loving wife Mabel. He is lovingly remembered by his five brothers and one sister, his two children Darren & Susan Gidcumb, his two grandchildren Christopher and Sarah, a great-grandson and several nieces. Wes was born in Plainview Texas, in 1942. He grew up on a farm in the Sacramento area. After graduating from Pentecostal Bible School, he joined the Navy. He did two tours of duty during the Vietnam War on the USS Morton, where he was an electrician. After the service, Wes was hired by NASA, where he enjoyed a 33 year career as an engineering technician. As a young man, Wes loved mountain climbing, long-distance bike riding, running, hiking, camping, and all things aeronautical. In his later years, he loved to play ping-pong, take walks around the neighborhood and spent many hours studying and reading the Bible. He was an active member of High Street Community Church, and loved his Thursday morning men's Bible study. A Celebration of Life service will be held at High Street Community Church, 850 High Street, Santa Cruz on Saturday, Sept 28, at 2 pm. Pastors Edd Breeden and Danny Wallen will be officiating. Please bring stories and memories to share as we reflect on the life of Wes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Institute, 675 Almanor Ave, Sunnyvale CA, 94085.
