Memorial

Krista Kaye Turner, 54, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 5, 2016 in Surprise, Arizona. Krista was born May 11, 1962, in Denver, Colorado and spent the majority of her career in some form of law enforcement. She worked for the Colorado State Liquor Enforcement, Lakewood City Court System, was a paralegal, private investigator, and also worked in security at Bandimere Speedway. She is survived by her husband George Turner and her most loved companion Pit Bull †œDeuce†; her parents, Bill and Virginia Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado; two sons, Michael (Danielle) Dowell and Brian Dowell; grandson, Jake Lambert; two sisters, Julie (John) Broonstra and Laurie (Barry) Schafer; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and her best friend for life, Kimberly Noland. Krista always said "God put me on this Earth to make people smile and laugh!" Anyone that knew Krista knew how she could make any stranger a friend. Krista had many artistic talents. She was commissioned to custom paint a steel beam from the World Trade Center that was going to be used to build a 9/11 Memorial for the Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. She meticulously painted it with a makeup brush to make it look like it was in its original form after the 9/11 disaster and then had it powder coated. The Secretary of Defense and many high-ranking Air Force generals told her how proud and honored they were that she made the beam look outstanding! Krista could literally turn someone†™s trash into treasure. She totally restored both a 1957 Schwinn bicycle and a 1979 Cobra Van that were in her dad†™s garage for years. She enjoyed remodeling many friends†™ houses and completely did a makeover of her son Brian†™s apartment. Krista had many accomplishments during her life including training German Shepherds and rescuing, training, and taming her Pit Bull †œDeuce.† Among other things she was a Master Gardner, and was also ranked no. 1 in the State of Colorado for being one of the best Girls Fast Pitch Pitcher during her younger days. Krista was also an excellent motorcycle rider. She enjoyed taking road trips and when she rode on George†™s Harley he hardly knew she was there. She made sure that people †œbacked off† if they were tailgating and also made sure people knew when they were making a turn. She was in her element when she was riding. Viewing and visitation will be held at 10 a.m. and services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Fairmount Bible Church, 15100 W. 48th Ave., Golden, Colorado. Krista†™s uncle, Pastor Danny Jackson, will officiate. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. in the Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery. Serving pallbearers will be Bryan Noland, Lynn Hood, John Boonstra, David Boonstra, Kyle Schafer and Cody Schafer. A celebration of Krista†™s life will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the gymnasium in Lakewood High School. In lieu of flowers contributions/donations can be made in memory of Krista to G.A.P. Ministries, Box 491, Canon City, CO 81215. Arrangements are being handled by Aspen Mortuary, Lakewood, Colorado.
