Kyle Brinton
February 28th, 1986 - October 7th, 2017
Kyle Brinton, 31, died at his home in Lacey, Washington, on October 7, 2017. Kyle was born to Bruce Brinton and Shannie Dixon Jenkins on February 28, 1986. He is survived by his parents; step-father, Al Jenkins; step-mother, Kelly Bergman; his brother, Ryan Brinton; nephew, Camden; fiancée, Brittany Johnson and their unborn child; adopted son, Brody; step siblings; as well as a very large group of loving family members and friends. Above all, Kyle valued his time with family and friends, and made a point to be at every family event. Kyle was excited to grow his own family with the love of his life Brittany, and their son Brody. It is evident God brought these two soul mates together. Growing up, Kyle and his brother Ryan spent much of their childhood at Maytown Lake and had a passion for watersports they shared with their father. Their brotherly bond grew strong in their adult years, and they looked forward to raising their children together. Kyle adored his nephew Camden and his love for him was very apparent. Kyle had a special bond with his parents and step-parents. He wasn’t just their son, but he was a best friend to them. Kyle had a special connection with his mother and father, and their open and honest relationship was evident to others. Kyle had exceptional character. Kyle listened well, he didn’t just wait for his turn to talk. When Kyle did speak it was often to give praise, proud of the accomplishments of his family and friends. Kyle had a huge heart and formed a unique personal connection with all those people he encountered because of his grace and love for others. Kyle was not afraid of hard work. For many years, he worked as a well-respected fisherman out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Kyle’s name will be added to the memory wall in Dutch Harbor to honor him and the love he had for the Bering Sea. After fishing, he decided to pursue a career that would allow him to be closer to his family. He was to graduate from Bates Technical College in March of 2018. Because he excelled and was at the top of his class, Kyle’s family was presented with an Associate’s in Applied Science Degree – HVAC Technician Certificate. He was working on a business plan that would possibly involve providing refrigeration system repair services for those same fishing boats he once worked on as a fisherman and deck hand. Kyle struggled with opiate addiction for much of his adult life. He was not an active addict at the time of his death, but after being clean for two and a half years, he relapsed and the lethal drug took his life. Kyle was a unique individual, and was brutally honest. You cannot say that he was defined by the drug addiction that he struggled to rid himself of. Even through the worst years of his addiction, he was transparent, loving, and never betrayed the trust of those close to him. Kyle’s family does not want his death to be in vain. If you know someone struggling with addiction, please help them to seek help and rehabilitation. It’s time to spread awareness of this sickness and release the shame associated with addiction. Please leave memories of Kyle or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
