L. Vance
November 15th, 1942 - November 12th, 2013
L. Alexander Vance, better known as Sandy, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the age of 70 after a brief illness. He was born in Newton, Massachusetts on November 15, 1942. Sandy was a long time resident of Brevard County, but also lived on his beautiful farm in Decherd, Tennessee. A graduate of Levin College of Law at the University of Florida, Sandy practiced law in Brevard County, Florida for over 24 years. He was active in the state and local Bar Associations and took on several leadership roles such as, serving on the Board of Directors of Community Bank of the South, a former Chairman of the local Florida Bar Grievance Committee, a Past President of the Brevard County Bar Association, and Chairman of the Eighteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Sandy retired from Vance, Lotane, and Bookhardt, PA in 2007. Sandy is survived by his wife, Mary Escbach, his four children, Lewis Alexander Vance III (Jade), Catherine Caddell (Scott), Caroline Vakhordjian (Chris), and Samantha Vance (Sebastian Rieck), his sisters, Phoebe Vance (Gary Ebert) and Jane McCauley (Richard). He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and his beloved dog, Farnsworth. Sandy’s favorite recreational pastimes were hiking, sailing, and traveling all over the world. He enjoyed telling jokes and sharing funny stories. His cheerful humor will forever be remembered by all who knew him well. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the National Rifle Association (NRA).
