Obituary LaMont G. Heustis, 67, of rural Fort Collins, Colorado died on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home. LaMont Heustis was born November 11, 1949 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Ralph and Ella (Anderson) Heustis. LaMont attended the Public Schools in Devils Lake, graduating High School in 1967. He was inducted into the United States Army in October 1967. He was released as a Sgt E-5, after serving in Korea and received his honorable discharge in May 1969. LaMont married Kathy Heit on June 26, 1976 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Kathy was killed in a car accident on July 20, 1983. He moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1984. LaMont started his own Roofing Business in 1993 and then incorporated it to Advanced Roofing Technologies, when he acquired a business partner in 1994. He was then co-owner of the business until his retirement. LaMont married Ruth Fenton on August 4, 1990 in Fort Collins, Colorado. They lived in Fort Collins until building their home in the country east of Wellington in 1998. Although LaMont was 7 years old when his father died and 15 years old when his mother died, LaMont endured through his many losses and always graced life with much optimism, courage and strength. He would never fail to help anyone out who needed a helping hand. Being a skilled builder and master craftsman, many people reaped the benefits of his work. One of his greatest joys was being in his shop working. LaMont also enjoyed reading, good music, hockey, football, other sports and living out in the country. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of rural Fort Collins, CO; three brothers: Evan Heustis of Devils Lake, ND, Tom (Kara) Heustis of Bismarck, ND and Neil (Mona) Heustis of Parker, CO, a sister: Helen (Phil) Millard of Fort Collins, CO; his mother-in-law, Darlene Fenton of St. Paul, NE; sisters-in-law: Judy (Mike) Ryan of Cotopaxi, CO, Jackie (Heit) (Darrell) Jaeger of Devils Lake, ND; brothers-in-law: Ron Kephart of Mitchell, NE, Jim (Esther) Fenton of Wolbach, NE, Dann Heit of Devils Lake, ND; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. LaMont was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his first wife Kathy and her parents Larry and Kay Heit, his brother, Curtis and wife Carol; his father-in-law Jim Fenton; sisters-in-law: Rita (Fenton) Kephart and Lynn Heit; a niece Dawn Heustis and nephews Chris Heustis and Jeremiah Fenton. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at The Lodge at MacKenzie Place located at 4751 Pleasant Oak Drive in Fort Collins, Colorado.
