Lance Corporal Michael Patrick Stevens
July 6th, 1983 - September 9th, 2002
Stevens, Lance Corporal Michael Patrick, 19, of Largo, died in an automobile accident Monday, September 9th, 2002 in Washington, DC where he was on active duty in the US Marine Corps. He came here in 1985 from his native Dover, DE and he was a 2001 graduate of Pinellas Park High School Criminal Justice Academy, where he was on the track team, football team, and the golf team. He enlisted in the Marines right after graduation and was meritoriously promoted twice through basic training and then in Infantry school. He was selected for Presidential guard duty, and while awaiting his final security approval, was on security duty at the 8th & I Streets barracks in Washington. He was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol. He is survived by his parents, Susan and Kevin Stevens; 2 sisters, Michelle and Jennifer Stevens, all of Largo; his Fiance, Shalma Hicks of Pinellas Park; his maternal grandmother, Marianne DallaCosta of N. Falmouth, MA; his maternal grandfather Everett DallaCosta and his wife Kathleen of Largo; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Nicholson of Hanson, MA; and his maternal great grandmother, Margaret DallaCosta of Largo.
