Lance Edwin Turner
August 28th, 1968 - December 1st, 2019
Lance Edwin Turner was born in Bellflower California on August 28, 1968. He was the much prayed for baby that God blessed us with. He was 3 days old when Shirley flew from South Dakota to bring him home. Lance brought much joy to all the aunts and uncles in the small country church. Jim was in the Army at the time, but officially met him for the first time a month later. At the age of 5, Lance and Jim learned to ski together. Lance has a true love for the mountains and the enjoyment of snowboarding. During his elementary years, Lance attended HMS Elementary and NLBB . For high school, he attended Campion Academy and graduated from Thompson Valley in 1987. Lance spent his college years in both California and Colorado. He ultimately headed to Summit County to pursue his love of the mountains and outdoor activities. He loved snowboarding. He was happiest when outdoors, being active. He skate-boarded, played Frisbee golf, and baseball. He loved playing golf and worked at a golf course. Lance cherished his role as a father figure to Blaze for many years. On January 8, 1999 he became the proud father of his most precious treasure, Sienna Araya. In 2000 he moved back to Loveland to raise Sienna closer to family. The two of them were inseparable! They spent their summers camping and frequented the lake where they enjoyed throwing sticks for Diego. He bestowed his love of snowboarding on her and together they skied and boarded constantly. They also loved attending concerts together. They were each other’s "everything”. Lance’s first dog was Babe, a Valentine’s Day gift! He also gave Sienna two kittens, Kelba and Dancer as well as her dog Diego. He worked as a landscaper and during the winter he also worked as a ski and snow board tech. Lance was the life of the party. He is remembered for his generosity and endless love for his daughter, friends and family. Everyone who knew him, knew he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. His big and tender heart was always looking for ways to help someone, directly or indirectly. Lance passed away on December 1, 2019. He is survived by his daughter Sienna Turner, parents James and Shirley Turner, sisters Lori Boos and Lorinda Diehl (Frankie), niece and nephew, Tabitha and AJ Diehl; plus aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. To honor Lance, a fund has been established for Sienna, care of Jim and Shirley Turner. Remembrance services will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the Campion Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 11:00am.
