Lanny Smith

Obituary Lanny Smith, 75, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, died peacefully at home on December 8, 2015. He was born on May 19, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois to Turner and Virginia Smith. After he graduated from Palmer High School, Lanny joined the US Navy, Seabees from 1958-1961. He was a pipe-fitter and proud member of the UA Local Union #58. He spent most of his career with Olson Plumbing & Heating and had his own concrete core-drilling business. Lanny is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon (Conway) Smith in 1991. They raised three children, Lee (Kari), Steve (Lonna) and Michelle (Seamus) Daley. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vicki, and through their union acquired an extended family of David (Ann), Sherri, and Brad (Dana). He has an older brother, Bill Smith, and was a very proud grandfather of 15 beautiful grandkids. Lanny will be remembered as a family man, with tremendous loyalty and a willingness to always help his family and friends. He loved watching his kids and grandkids during their sporting events and was a tremendous supporter of St. Mary's High School athletics. His quick wit, 'Lanny-isms', and his contagious Laughter will never be forgotten.
