Aspen Mortuaries - Lakewood
Larry William Bolin
December 13th, 1939 - August 9th, 2014
Larry's Life Larry grew up on a farm in Woodhull, IL attending all grade levels in the Alwood School District. Upon graduating from H.S. he attended and received a Bachelor's Degree in Math and Science from Western IL University in Macomb, IL. Larry and Glenda met in H.S. marrying August 7, 1960. Upon receiving their college degrees (1962) they got teaching positions in CA with the Anaheim Union High School District. Car lover Larry bought a red 1963 split window Corvette and headed west. Ready to start a family, Shane was born 8/17/66. It was agreed that Glenda would be a "stay at home" Mom, At that time teaching could not sustain a CA family so he worked at Disneyland in the summers as a tram driver with security. Larry sought to change careers. God's Grace enabled him to enter the emerging computer age of Aerospace Engineering. In the following 5 yrs he worked for Autonetics/Hughes Aircraft & Interstate Elec. Also, they joined Corvettes of So. CA and Larry began slalom racing with the '63. May 1, 1969 Robb was born and they began to think and pray about getting closer to their Midwest family. 1971 Martin Marietta of Wateron, CO was interviewing in Anaheim for jobs in the Denver area. He was hired and spring of 1971 they moved to Denver. Both being from country life they sought to find mountain property and build. Again God's Grace enabled them to find 7 buildable acres in Conifer, CO 30 miles southwest of Denver. They lived 32 yrs in Conifer and involved themselves in the community organizing a ski program for kids at Geneva Basin. Larry was involved in West Jeff Rec Assoc. and coached our boys and others in football, baseball and other activities. God's Grace again enabled him to fulfill a lifelong dream to own and race a Ford engine Spec Racer through SSCA. He raced several yrs at various tracks in CO. When Spec car racing got too expensive, he moved to Vintage Car racing with Rocky Mt. Vintage Racers. Locating an open wheel VW engine bright yellow car, they continued to go the race circuit with RMVR. 2000-02 saw them being evacuated by several big mt wildfires. Larry had retired in 1999 from Lockeed Martin and with grandchildren coming into the family they decided to try the "flatlands' since Conifer was not a "drop by" place. Aug 3, 2003 they left the mountains and moved to a ranch home on west side of Arvada. It was definitely a God directed move as in 2009 Larry was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma a blood cancer. He received Chemo and June 2010 he had a stem cell transplant of his own cells which put him in remission for 4 yrs. Those years were so valuable to them for they were able to cruise and travel some. May 2014 Larry became anemic with the diagnosis of Treatment Related Acute Leukemia which took his very active and loving life in two months on August 9, 2014. Larry You Are Loved And Missed!
