Larry was a very hard worker, this strong work ethic started at a young age and it didn’t end until April 7, 2015 when his heart had became too tired to finish out his work day at Wal-Mart. Larry grew up in Bloomingdale Georgia with his parents and 5 siblings. After he graduated high school he enlisted and served in the Air Force as a MP (Military Police Officer) where he was stationed at Lowry Air Force base. He had met Patricia (Pat) Ann Gerlock at Lowery and they married on October 5, 1968. They had two daughters when he was sent to Okinawa Japan during the Vietnam War and when he had served his time he came back to Colorado to be with his family and they had two more daughters. They lived in Colorado for a few years before moving their family to Georgia and returned to Golden Colorado three short years later then in 1988 the family moved to Wheat Ridge Colorado later the couple divorced in 1997. Larry move back home to Georgia in 2010 however after missing his daughters, his grandchildren and great grandchildren he decided to moved back to Arvada Colorado in 2013. Larry worked at several places during his adult life to help provide for his family which included, Exxon gas station, 7-11 (being a manager and sales clerk), Checker Auto Parts, a Meat Packing Plant, Rainbo Bakery, working for a cleaning houses business (cleaning out houses after people had moved out), Lonestar and BMC West (Driver) and Wal-Mart (Garden Center) He enjoyed painting on the side (houses, Apartment Buildings and for a few years The Frightmare Compound), he was willing to lend a helping hand to others whether it be a joke or smart alec comment to the other BMC West drivers, at Wal-Mart when customers needed lawn care advice or carrying their purchases out to their vehicles. He took lots of pride in owning his own lawn mowing and dog house business for 7 years. During these 7 years Larry and Pat would mow 100 lawns weekly when they first started mowing. Larry would mow by himself and then he would pick up Pat from her day job cleaning and then they would go out and finish mowing. After the first year they would both go and mow from 6:00 in the morning to dark seven days a week. Larry had enlisted all four of his daughters and son-in-law Rick to help mow during the summer time as well and then the last two years they went down to mowing 40 lawns weekly. Larry had built over 700 dog houses that he delivered across the Denver Metro Area (Pat and Mae were his helpers with everything) and his dog house plan was also featured in the Rocky Mountain Newspaper. In his spare time he enjoyed going to the dog and horse races, bowling on leagues, playing pool, going to play bingo, fishing, listening to country and oldies music, watching movies and wrestling on TV, going to Central City, playing a card game called “hand and foot” and yahtzee as well as spending time with others when ever he got a chance. He is survived by his four daughters and two son-in-laws; June and Rick Ferraro Olney Springs, Mae Washam Golden, April Parker Arvada, July and Chris Whitson Berthoud, CO.
