Larry Carter Coppock

January 21st, 1937 - April 22nd, 2024

Larry Carter Coppock, 87, of Caldwell, Idaho passed away peacefully in his home on April 22, 2024.

Larry was born in Worland, Wyoming on January 21, 1937, to John Ellis and Morna Darlene (Carter) Coppock. He had one older brother who passed away as an infant and three younger sisters.

He grew up attending school in Worland, Wyoming except for his 3rd and 4th grade years when the family lived in Ten Sleep, Wyoming.  He was an active member of the Thespian club and enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball, and graduated from Worland Senior High School in 1955.

Larry enlisted in the Army in April of 1956 where he served as a mail clerk for 5 months and a supply clerk for 17 months while stationed in Bremerhaven Germany until April of 1958.

Larry met his wife, Louise “Kaye” Zeller in February 1959 through a friend after she moved to Worland to live with her sister and brother-in-law.  They were married two short months later in Kaye’s hometown of Lovell, Wyoming on April 24, 1959, and made their home in Worland, Wyoming where Larry was employed at Wyoming Automotive.

Larry and Kaye bought and ran the Wyoming Automotive store in Powell, Wyoming for about 10 years before deciding to move to Billings, Montana where they lived for about 4½ years before deciding to move back to Worland in 1975.  Shortly after returning to Worland, Larry began working for Napa Auto Parts as a store manager until he retired in 2005.

While living in Worland, Larry held several church callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including serving as a counselor in two Bishoprics before being called to serve as the Bishop of the Worland 2nd Ward.

In July of 2006, Larry and Kaye moved to Caldwell, Idaho to be near their daughters and grandchildren.

Larry enjoyed watching game shows, telling dad jokes, playing golf, watching (sleeping through) golf on TV, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Kaye, his parents John and Morna Coppock, brother Daniel, and sisters Janet Peterson and Jill Grant.

He is survived by his sister, Ardith McGinnis of Talihina, Oklahoma, son Larry Michael Coppock (Kirsten) of Fort Collins, Colorado, daughters Debra Lewis (Stephen) of Meridian, Idaho, and Kathy Bayless (Edgar) of Caldwell, Idaho.  He had eight grandchildren, Benjamin Coppock, Jeremiah Coppock (Kelly), Alicia Gil (Lance), Emily Lewis, Evan Lewis, Yvonne Byers (Trevor), Eva Bayless, and Maycee Bayless.  He also had six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4509 S. Montana Ave, Caldwell, Idaho.  A viewing will be held prior to services from 10 to 11am at the same location followed by a private family interment at Canyon Hill Cemetery.

Attended Worland schools for a lot of years with Larry. He was a good student and he played football - a loyal Worland Warrior. I remember him as a "good un".
