Larry "Dan" Daniel Drake, Jr

Dan “Larry Daniel” Drake, age 67, of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, passed away on July 8, 2024, in Fort Collins. 

He was born on December 31, 1956.

Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Known for his helpful and kind nature, he had a talent for fixing anything and was always ready to lend a hand to his loved ones. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

In his professional life, Dan excelled as an industrial electrician at Hewlett Packard and later as a Facilities Manager at Echostar (Dish Network). His dedication and expertise were highly respected by his colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of work, Dan found immense joy in his hobbies. He had a deep passion for trains, hiking, fishing, and camping, finding solace and adventure in the great outdoors. His love for travel took him to various destinations including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Saint Lucia, where he enjoyed exploring new places and cultures.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Barbie; his daughter Megan (spouse Rob); his son Shawn (spouse Robyn); his grandchildren Olivia, Charleigh, Frankie (spouse Anson), Max, and Rowan; as well as his sisters Kris and Ralf. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat, and his father, Larry.

Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy of love and kindness will live on through the lives he touched. Dan died as he lived, with grace and dignity. He was not defined by his disease.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Dan’s life and legacy. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Dementia Together.
