Larry Leonard Hansen

On Sunday December 29, 2019 Larry Hansen, beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many passed away in his hometown of Loveland Colorado at the age of 76. Larry was born on March 21, 1943 in Martin, SD to Vera Marie and Leonard Harold Hansen. He spent three years serving in the US Army deployed in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. He started his career working in electronics and transitioned into a long sales career. He became the person to go to for cars and then appliances in Loveland. This is where he met most of his many friends. Larry was an avid car enthusiast owning many classics in his lifetime from a 56 T-Bird to a 2010 Camaro SS/RS. Several years he was seen proudly driving one in the Loveland Veteran’s Day Parade. He was also very involved in the Loveland Benevolent Protective Order of Elks lodge 1051 and progressed through all the chairs to become an Exalted ruler. He loved sitting at the lodge talking with friends about the fun they had together, Larry was very social. He also enjoyed his breakfast meetups with his friends where he loved to see people and check in with them. His other passion was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He often would take them out to eat and enjoyed simply sitting with them at his home. He cared deeply for them and was passionate about being active in their lives. He enjoyed going to football games for his grandsons and attending other events for his grandchildren. He was proud of his family and often spoke of his love for each of them. He was known for this as well as his quick wit sense of humor and his leadership. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard and his mother, Vera. He is survived by his daughter Shawna, his son Vance, his five grandchildren Kyle, Tessa, Vance Junior, Maxx, and Jace and several aunts and uncles. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 7th, 2020 at Bent Tree Church, 1825 W 37th St. in Loveland at 2:00 P.M. with a celebration of life to follow at the Loveland Elks Lodge 1051. There will be a memorial set up in the family’s name at Independent Bank in Loveland.
