Larry William Knapp

Our beloved brother Larry William Knapp, age 82, a resident of Lakeland, FL. passed away Sat. 15, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Knapp was born Nov. 13, 1940 in Monroe, MI. to Marshall Charles and Doris Arlene (Scheid) Knapp. He was a resident of Polk County, FL. since the 1990’s coming from Michigan. Larry was a past Owner/Operator of a Mobile Home Park, Truck Driver and a Dairy & Grain Farmer. He graduated in 1959 from Ida Agricultural School, he also had his Real Estate License & Private Pilot’s License. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Alfred, FL. and was Baptized & Confirmed at the Ida United Methodist Church in MI. Larry was a member of the Tractor Pulling Association in Michigan, Fly Wheelers Association in Florida, 4-H Club, Teamsters Trucking Union, Monroe County Farm Bureau and the Monroe County Co-Op Farmers Association. He enjoyed golf, fishing, boating and traveling throughout the US. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents – William & Lizzie Knapp; maternal grandparents – John & Clara Scheid; former wife – Gida Divengrachi; brother – Richard Knapp; brother in law – Merlyn Knapp; many gt nieces, gt nephews & cousins. Larry is survived by his family, brother – Verle (Valerie) Knapp of Dundee, MI.; sister – Beverly Knapp of Lakeland, FL.; 2 nephews – Jeff (Tina) Dental & Andrew Knapp; 2 nieces – Karen (Jim) Wilcox & Janelle (Ben) Motylinski. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Knapp’s name may be made to: St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105. Visitation will be held from 12:00 until 2:00 pm Wed. April 19th at Kersey Funeral Home. A private graveside will follow.
