Larry Franklin Miller
September 13th, 1942 - September 18th, 2024
Larry Franklin Miller, 82 of Odessa Florida, peacefully entered heaven on September 18, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer (John 14:26).
Larry was born on September 13, 1942, to Russell and Rebecca Miller, in Mariba, Minefee County, Kentucky.
He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; lap companion, Rascal; daughter and son-in-law, Lori Miller and Michael Fivecoate; son and daughter-in-law, Larry (Franky) and Dana Miller, II; daughter, Amy S. Kruse; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Brona Larder; Sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Mike Prado; sister-in-law, Betty Miller; sister-in-law, Phyllis Miller; many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Rebecca Miller; four brothers, Robert, Elwood, Omer, and William; and a sister, Patricia Hyde.
Larry learned the roofing trade at an early age from his father Russell. Russell placed his trust in Larry as a young boy by sending Larry on his bike to make company bank deposits, placing him on a roof job by himself at the age of 16 to running a large project contracted with Del Webb at Sun City Center in 1962. After Russell‘s death, Larry and his brothers continued the legacy of Russell’s Roofing. Larry became a certified roofing contractor when the State of Florida required roofers to be licensed, he also founded Larry Miller Incorporated in 1985. Larry enjoyed the challenge of complicated construction, with his brilliant mind he designed and built three homes for his family. One of Larry’s wonderful creations with extremely complicated construction brought him joy when his family and friends would gather in “The Gazebo” which he designed and constructed. Larry loved spending time with his family especially his grands and great-grands which would often lead to a song or two and maybe a story, he loved telling stories to anyone who had the time to listen, and he always had a lesson to share within his stories.
Our Husband, Dad, and Papa will forever be loved and missed. As per his wishes, there will not be a funeral service but there will be a Celebration of Life, Sunday, November 10, 2024, 2-4 PM “In the Gazebo.”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Larry’s name to Sun Coast Hospice or Tunnel to Towers.
