Larry James Nelsen

Larry James Nelsen passed away at his home Saturday December 14, 2010 in Newberg Oregon. He was born October 15, 1937 in Spokane, Washington to Carl and Audrey Nelsen. He was the eldest of two sons. His parents and brother preceded him in death. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1955. He started his career in the paper industry at the Inland Empire Paper Mill in the Spokane Valley. In 1959 he married Paula Murphy. Larry's career took him and his family to Snow Flake, Arizona, Nacimiento, Chile South America and finally to Newberg, Oregon in 1968 where he lived until his death. Larry was a member of the Naval Reserve for seven years and was Honorably Discharged in 1962. He was a long time member of the Sherwood Elks. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and water skiing. Larry was always ready with a joke and a song with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Paula and four children, Matthew, Christine, Mitchell, Mark and their families. Eleven grand-children and two great-grandchildren. One sister-in-law, one brother-in-law and 12 nieces and nephews . Larry was a loving and caring husband, father and friend.....he will be missed.
