Memorial

Larry Renaud, 67 of Evergreen passed away September 8, 2014. He is survived by his wife ,Pam, sister Rita Peterson(David), brothers George(Linda) , Charles , brother-in-law, George Duncan (Ann),numerous nieces , nephews, great nieces , nephews and his beloved dog Susie. Larry was born in Denver, raised in Lakewood, attended Bear Creek High School; graduating from Western State in 1970. Larry was fortunate to have a job waiting for him after graduation with Renaud Inc., the excavating company his father founded. He was passionate about his work and much like his Dad he liked to say, we built that road, or dug that foundation. The red and white trucks were frequently seen around Evergreen. It was important to him to have a good working relationship with his clients and employees. He treated people how he wanted to be treated. Even though Renaud Excavating had closed its doors, his missed the work. Recently he had an opportunity to consult with another excavating company, and he loved it. He loved sports. In his early twenties if he wasn’t working he was playing fast pitch soft ball, basketball with his friends, skiing in the winter. Later mountain biking became an obsession. As his Sister- in- law would say he liked anything with four wheels and a loud engine that went fast. In his twenties he enjoyed his Coors, but as the years progressed his tastes changed and he became a wine snob. He loved touring vineyards seeking the best reds He met his wife Pam on a blind date at the Little Bear. It must have been fun, because just over a year later they married. Pam was from the south shore of Long Island New York and while visiting he became a lover of water sports, boating, salt water fishing, and being on the beach. He enjoyed visiting and exploring NYC, and going to an occasional Broadway show. One of his goals was to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge which he did a few years ago. In 1993 Larry was diagnosed with kidney disease. He underwent 2 transplants and was on dialysis before each one. To utilize his time while on dialysis he took his work and phone with him. He would not give in to his disease. Thankfully there was a vacation dialysis center in Winter Park so he could get away on weekends and still ski. He was a lover of life and a fighter. The only complaint you would hear from him was his ski boots were too tight, yet he still skied. He and Pam were fortunate to have a second home in Winter Park, so they could get away and share with family and friends. The past 10 years he and Pam were able to take some dream vacations to Italy, France, and Scandinavia, Oregon wine country but high on the bucket list was a small ship cruise to Alaska which they did this past June. Though his life was cut short Larry lived it his way. He was a man who rarely complained with his chronic back pain and recently had endured many surgeries for recurrent skin cancers. He was a survivor and will be missed by all of his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Friday 9/26/14 at the Evergreen Methodist church, 3757 Ponderosa Drive, Evergreen, with a reception to follow at the Evergreen Lake House, 29612 Upper Bear Creek Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
