Larry Wayne Tate
September 27th, 1948 - September 22nd, 2015
Church Hill - Larry Wayne Tate, 66 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at his residence following a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from AFG following 36 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf and was a loving husband, father, papaw and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul J. Tate, Sr. and Lida Kathleen Hughes Tate; brothers, Charles and Ricky Tate. Larry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathy Amyx Tate; son, Danny Tate and wife Angel; step-daughters, Wanda Barger and Belinda Laney; granddaughters, Taylor and Lexi Tate; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; sisters, Edna Simmons, Frances Tate and Pamela Willis; brother, James Tate. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Larry McAmis and Pastor Larry Bledsoe officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak hill Memorial Park with the American Legion #3/265 conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Wayne Barger, Kevin Barger, Donnie Bingham, Danny Tate, Wes Christian, Chad Amyx, Tyler and Michael McCurry. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Tate family.
