July 29th, 1987 - February 25th, 2006
Gorman, Laura Ann, 18, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, February 25th, 2006. She was born in St. Petersburg and attended elementary and middle school at St. Jude?s School and was a member of the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle. She currently attended Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was a 2005 graduate of Gibbs High School where she was a cheerleader all four years, and was named the most improved varsity cheerleader in 2003. She won first place in the Gus Stavros Free Enterprise Essay Contest in 2002, third place in the Martin Luther King Essay Contest in 2003, and was named Who?s Who Among American High School Students in 2004. She received the Gibbs High School Academic Letter in 2003 and 2004 and was a member of the National Honor Society in 2004 and 2005. She was also in the BETA program at Gibbs where she graduated as the program Salulitorian and was the Associate Editor of the BETA Byte, the school newsletter. She was a member of the Spanish Club, the LINK Crew where she was a group leader, Future Business Leaders of America FBLA where she was Junior Class President, and Florida Future Educators of America FFEA. She was currently in her freshman year at Eckerd College with a Business Major. She was a Hospice Teen volunteer for four years. She is survived by her parents, Roderick J. ?Rod?, Jr. and Helen M. Gorman; her sister, Diana Gorman all of St. Petersburg; her Maternal Grandmother, Lillian Miara of Clearwater; and her Paternal Grandparents, Roderick and Elizabeth Gorman of Newburyport, Mass.
