Laureano "Larry" Valdez

March 20th, 1922 - July 8th, 2012

Laureano Rea Valdez, 90, of Marsing, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Laureano was born in San Martin Hidalgo Jalisco, Mexico on March 20, 1922 to Zacarias Valdez and Maria Ramos. Laureano met Santos in Chicago when he was asked to be godfather for a friend’s daughter. Santos was asked to be the godmother. Laureano said Santos looked nice, but what he really meant was she was HOT. Laureano married Santos in 1952 and renewed their vows in 1969. They moved to Idaho in 1964 and lived there for the past 46 years. They were married for 58 years. Santos, his beloved, passed away December 4, 2010. He lived in Mexico, Texas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Idaho and had many jobs. He worked at a slaughter house in Mexico, EC Shaw, Hood Rubber Company in Chicago, Zenith Television in Chicago for 13 years, Just Rite Farms for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and telling stories about his life to family and friends. He shared his joys with his family and raised his children to enjoy life and to be honest. He found love and joy and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Laureano left a lasting impression to all he had met with his laughter, love and sense of humor. He lived a long and full life. He will be missed by friends and most of all, his family. He is survived by his children: Laureano Jr, Frank Gonzalez (June), Nicki Chinn (Jack), Joseph Gonzalez, John Valdez, Rosemary Brooks (Rich), and Laura Marshall; his grandchildren: Dyron Gonzalez, Kathleen E. Chinn, David A. Chinn, Sarah S. Chinn, Rachael L. Hedrick (Tracy), Rochelle L. Brooks, Joshua R. Marshall, Jacqueline R. Marshall and DeAnna N. Marshall; his great grandchildren: Mackenzie J. and Alyssa N. Hedrick. Laureano is preceded into death by his parents and his siblings: Liberato, Victoria, Trinidad (Trine), Aurelia, and Dolores (Lola). A viewing will be held on Thursday July 19, 2012 at 5:00 pm with a Rosary Service to being at 7:00 pm at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Homedale. A memorial reception will be held on Friday July 20, 2012 at the American Legion Community Center in Marsing at 5:00 pm, dinner to follow. Service Information
