Obituary Lauren Henry Douty, affectionately known as Hank, age 84, died of natural causes on September 26, 2019 in Meridian, Idaho. Hank was born on November 18, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska, moving to Idaho as a young child. Hank attended schools in Star and Meridian, Idaho, graduating from Greenleaf Friends Academy in 1953. Following High School, Hank was drafted into the military and served in the Korean war. Upon his return to Idaho, Hank worked as a dairy farmer, landscaper and in the 1960’s established Douty Excavating becoming a master backhoe operator. Hank retired in 1995 and enjoyed time with Volunteers on Wheels (VOW), camping at the family lot in Cascade, and snow birding in Yuma, Arizona. Hank was a great family man and a loving father. He married his High School sweetheart, Corrine Emry, in 1958 and together they enjoyed rearing three beautiful “Douty girls” and one son, Jim. Hank was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Friends Church for his entire life, serving as a key contributor in the construction of the current Boise Friends Church and Greenleaf Friends Academy. Hank enjoyed multiple terms on the Greenleaf Friends Academy Board, serving as its Chairman for many years.
