Laurence Wendell Ashley
July 19th, 1928 - May 14th, 2017
Larry W. Ashley, 88, passed away at his home in Buckley, Washington, on Sunday, May 14, 2017. He was born Laurence Wendell Ashley on July 19, 1928 to Eli and Alice M. Ashley (Penner) in Ashton, Idaho. Larry served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army for three years in the early 1950's. Returning to Pac Car after his service, he worked in test engineering for 42 years. He helped to design and build Kenworth and Peterbuilt trucks. He lived most of his life in Renton, Washington. In 1982, Larry and his wife, Carol, moved to a beautiful log home, which he built, in Buckley, Washington. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his brothers, in Dayton, Washington. Larry also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with family. Larry is survived by his wife, Carol; son Alan Ashley (Sharon); daughter, Linda Ashley; stepchildren Dan Lloyd (Cheri), Russ Lloyd (Laura), Kathy Lloyd, and Randy Lloyd (Jenny); 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Lorella Haakenson; brothers-in-law Les Payne (Kathy), Rich Payne (Lou); and sister-in-law Shelly Payne. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 1- 6 pm at Buckley Hall in Buckley, WA.
