Laurence David Butler
November 21st, 1954 - January 5th, 2024
On this day, Friday, January 5th, 2024, Laurence "Larry" David Butler has passed away peacefully at home with his family after battling Pancreatic Cancer. Born in Durham, N.C. on November 21, 1954, a former resident of Louisiana, he resided at the end in West Columbia, S.C. Larry loved sports, primarily Duke Basketball and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He was never let down or left unentertained. You would always find him sporting his DUKE gear, carried on after his father’s graduation from the school. He loved his time in the outer banks of N.C. & L.A., learning to fish and being on the water was a fond memory he reminisced over. He brought back his fine cooking learned in New Orleans which Shirley and the family enjoyed celebrating and talked about for years. Being former Navy was one of the many things he was proud to be part of throughout his life. He loved being a father and his hand outreached making friends everywhere. Being a retail store owner for over 20 years, gave him pleasure to help and meet others through the Barnyard Flea Market where he based his business for nearly the entirety of the 20 years under SteelBells. He will be missed for the caring, quiet natured, smiling man he was and father figure he became to many. Predeceased by Father: William W. Butler, Mother: Shirley J. Butler & Sister: Lisa K. Butler. Survived by best friend/business partner of 20+years & Fiancé: Frances "Frankie" L. Zink with Step-daughters: Blanchez L. Sharpe & JoDonnah A. Sharpe along with biological children: Kathleen and William Butler with 3 grand-children.
