Laurence William Livingston

Laurence William Livingston, 76, of Gloversville, New York, passed away on December 29, 2023 at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a six month battle with cancer. Larry was born on March 9, 1947 in Gloversville to the late William Bellows and Dorothy (Houserman) Livingston. He graduated from Gloversville High School in 1965 where he participated in football and wrestling, and graduated from Ithaca College with his Bachelor's degree in business. In 1968 Larry was united in marriage to Gail Twining, with whom he shared the past 55 years. He was the third generation owner of Livingston's Furniture and until his illness continued to work part time while his son, David, took the reins. He was a man of many passions and talents. He was an excellent skier, a "character building" golfer, and for several years competed in the stock car races at Fonda Speedway with the number 56, the "Bleecker Beagle." He enjoyed navigating on the St. Laurence river and the Caribbean. His greatest passion in his later life, however, was his horses, especially his first, Pepperjack. He also enjoyed following the sports activities of his grandchildren in football, wrestling, and dirt bike racing. For the past few years Larry and his wife trailered their horses to Florida for a few of the winter months, escaping the cold which Larry had lost any appreciation for! They also spent many great riding week-ends at Otter Creek and Brookfield horse camps with friends. His loving family includes his wife, Gail; their son, David (Holly Insogna) Livingston; grandsons John and Matthew Livingston; sister, Lyn Yuenger; niece and nephew, Luke Yuenger and Kristin O"Brien. In keeping with Larry's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, New York. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the ASPCA or a charity of your choice.
