Laurie K. Murray
September 4th, 1960 - July 30th, 2023
Laurie Kathrine Murray, 62, Johnson Creek, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. She bravely faced a brief battle with pneumonia, which advanced quickly due to a surprising diagnosis of acute leukemia. She is now resting in the arms of her Savior in Heaven. Laurie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Jefferson, WI. Laurie was born on September 4, 1960, in Kenosha, WI to Dallas and Joyce (Yeazle) Baker. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1979. On October 6, 1979, she married John Murray. Together they have shared a wonderful life and were blessed with three sons: Eric, Bradly, and Bryan. Laurie and John enjoyed motorcycles rides on John’s Harley, yearly trips to Arizona to visit family, and all the simple moments of life together. Laurie was most recently employed at Fort Memorial Hospital in Environmental Services. While she enjoyed her job and friendships with coworkers, her favorite roles in life were Mom and Grandma. Faith and family were the most important things to her. She went to all the grandchildren’s events and supplied ALL the snacks. She lead the cheering section at sporting events and provided lots of trips to the movies, lunch dates and rides around town. Laurie really appreciated the simple things in life. Having family together brought her the most joy, especially when extended family could be included. She planned many fun summer family reunions. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, taking flying lessons and spoiling all the family pets. Laurie had a very welcoming personality and, if you met her, you were a friend. She was the type who would do anything for you at the drop of a hat and could make conversation with anyone. Laurie’s smile was contagious, her laugh filled you with joy, and she gave the best hugs. To know Laurie was to love her. She is survived by her husband John, Johnson Creek; sons: Eric (Melissa) Murray, Bradly (Tanya) Murray, and Bryan Murray all of Johnson Creek; grandchildren: Nolan, Connor, Payton, Liam, and Daniel Murray; mother: Joyce Baker, Watertown; sister: Cindy (Jeff) Roewer, Menomonie, WI; brother: Jeff Baker (Sally), Janesville, WI; mother-in-law: Shirley Murray, Marana, AZ. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Baker, and father-in-law, Ron Murray. The family would like to thank the healthcare staff at Froedtert Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Laurie. The family is also grateful for the kindness and support we received from the staff in the medical ICU, especially her nurse, Van. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 12:00pm at St. John Lutheran Church, 232 E. Church St. Jefferson, WI 53549. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00am until the time of the service. Luncheon to follow. Online condolences may be made at www.schneidermichaelis.com
