Laverne Ellen Galbraith

Laverne Ellen Galbraith of Golden passed away April 20 after a brief illness. She was 88. Born to James Vincent and Bernice Marie Piscitella on January 19, 1934, Laverne grew up in Denver and graduated from South High School. She married Ben Galbraith on June 26, 1955. Her husband preceded her in death. Laverne worked as a travel agent for many years, which helped fuel her love of travel. She was very active in church, first at Augustana in Denver and since 2004 at Holy Shepherd in Lakewood, serving on altar guild, as a volunteer and singing with the choir for 50+ years. Laverne is survived by her son James of The Woodlands, TX, daughter Susan Schairer (Greg) of Loveland, CO and grandsons Joshua Schairer (Juliette) of Philadelphia, PA. and Zachary Schairer of Loveland, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp, 805 South Shields Street, Fort Collins, CO 80521 or Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter, 455 Sherman Street #500, Denver, CO 80203. A memorial service will be held at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church 920 Kipling St. Lakewood CO on Friday April 29 at 10:00 AM.
