Mrs. Saunders, 79, of Charlotte died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Carolinas Specialty Hopsital in Charlotte, NC. LaWanda was born in Taylorville, IL November 2, 1934 a daughter of the late John and Mary Pasqueno. She was a Deputy Clerk of Superior Court until she retired. LaWanda enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches as well as Matlock and Walker Texas Ranger. Mrs. Saunders was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents Mrs. Saunders was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy in 2003. Survivors include her son, Michael Saunders, Sr.; sisters, Nadine Dardano and Muffy Alberts; grandsons, Michael Saunders, Jr. and Matthew Saunders. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2014, in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. Seventh St. Charlotte, NC 28204 or American Diabetes Association, 1300 Baxter St. Suite 150 Charlotte, NC 28204.
