Lawrence William "Larry" Glover, Jr.
January 23rd, 1941 - January 27th, 2024
Lawrence William “Larry” Glover, Jr. passed away Saturday evening January 27, 2024, in Greensboro, following a recovery from an accidental fall. He was the son of the late Lawrence W. Glover, Sr. and Phyllis MacArthur Glover. He was predeceased by his younger sisters, Karen Davis and Sharon Glover, and a niece, Amber Davis Kenyon. He was born in Covington, KY, relocated to Miami in 1957, where he met the love of his life, Georgia Lee Arnold. They were married on August 23, 1961, and spent the next 62 plus years side by side. He is survived by his wife of 62½ years, Georgia Lee Glover of the home; son, Gary Glover and wife Lisa; granddaughters, Hannah Tuggle, Shelby Glover (Alan Craven); four beautiful great grandchildren, Maxwell Tuggle, Hadley Tuggle, Arlo Craven, Bodhi Craven, who were most adored; brother-in-Law, James Davis; nieces, Adrienne Davis Riggs, April Davis Milton; and nephew, Greg Davis. Larry started his career with Barfield Instruments Corp (aircraft and avionics) in Miami FL and relocated to Greensboro in 1983, first retiring in 1989. After short lived retirement, he and Georgia Lee opened and owned a couple Subway Sandwich Shops in Greensboro, he went back into his profession of avionics being one of the founding fathers of TIMCO in Greensboro in 1990. Retiring from there in 2006. Once retired, he and Georgia Lee spent time between residences in Greensboro and North Myrtle Beach. They eventually took to cruising and went on several cruises taking them to places in Europe, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, and numerous other ports. When not cruising they both were avid at working out at the gym. They went 6 days a week, 2 hours a day. After gym workouts they would relax and watch soccer, preferably premier league (Arsenal F.C., aka Gunners). He had a huge love of soccer, first coaching then watching. Memorial services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Guilford College United Methodist Church, Greensboro, NC. A time of visitation with the family will be held from 2:30PM to 3:00PM prior to the service at the church.
