Lawrence “Lars” Alan Kapfer, 56, died and entered heavenly rest on January 13, 2016 in Tucson, AZ. Lars was born in Suffern, NY on February 19, 1959 and was an extraordinarily kind, spiritual, and caring man, partner, son, brother, father, uncle, and friend who loved everyone unconditionally and who was loved by all. He was a skilled conversationalist and epic storyteller with a great sense of humor and infectious smile. He had zeal for life, bass guitar, golf, concerts, hiking and film. He was a creative producer, film and video editor, talented musician, lifelong outdoorsman and passionate golf enthusiast. Lars grew up in Warwick, NY and joined the Navy directly out of high school in 1976, serving the United States, a country he deeply loved. After leaving the Navy, Lars pursued his passion for film and television editing. His Emmy award-winning career included over 25 years of post-production experience with The Speed Channel, PGA Tour Productions, NBC'S Today Show, Fox Sports, Firehouse Pictures and Bloomberg News. Lars is survived by his beloved partner, Leslie Clarke (Andrew and Chelsea), Tucson, AZ, children he cherished: Jason and Joe Kapfer, Chicago, IL, Emilee Tapani, Hugo, MN, Summer Green, Warwick, N,Y, Hannah Grace Kapfer, Charlotte, NC; precious grandchildren: Milana and Isabel; parents he loved and appreciated: William and Sara Kapfer, Tucson, AZ; siblings he treasured: Sheri Kapfer, Tucson, AZ, William Kapfer Jr. (Eric Baker), New York, NY, Sheila “Raye” Yamanaka (Chris),Tucson, AZ, , Suzanne Vitiello (Al), Newtown, CT, Kristen Stolowski (Gene), Montgomery, NY, Glenn Messenger Jr. (Susan), Island Park, NY; seven nieces and four nephews he dearly loved including Sierra and Taylor Yamanaka, Tucson, AZ and a host of devoted and lifelong friends. Words Lars lived by: "Life is a journey... LIVE IT!" A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E Fort Lowell Rd, Tucson, AZ 85719, Friday, January 29, 2016, 2pm in the Sanctuary with a reception immediately following.
