Lawrence W. Stewart
March 1st, 1948 - June 22nd, 2012
Lawrence W. Stewart, age 64 of Broadalbin passed away on Friday June 22, 2012 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. He was born in Amsterdam, NY on March 1, 1948 the son of the late Samuel and Genevieve Frasier Stewart. Larry was a 1967 graduate of Perth High School and the National Meat Cutting School in Ohio. Larry proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay with the 135th Heavy Equipment Maintenance Company. On September 26, 1970, Larry married the former Donna Lee Boyd. They shared 24 years united in marriage until her passing on March 24, 1995. Larry worked as a meat cutter and then went on to work for General Electric, Insulating Materials Incorporated as well as a self employed electrician for many years prior to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V., Fish House Fish and Game Club and a former member of the Pine Tree Rife Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Larry also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He is survived by a son, Paul Stewart Debbie of Waterford, NY, two daughters: Kimberly Stewart of Gloversville, Abby Stewart of Broadalbin, two grandchildren; Samantha Stewart and Gavin Stewart, a brother James Stewart Elsieand a longtime companion, Beverly Birch. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Stewart. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Larry may be made to: Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
