Lawrence Joseph Vogler Mr. Vogler, age 60, of Charlotte died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Vogler was born in Chicago, Illinois, September 27, 1948. He was the son of Lorraine Marie and Eugene Raymond Vogler of Chicago, Illinois. Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Catherine Vogler. The Voglers met at Bradley University and were married October 11, 1969. Their daughter, Whitney Catherine Vogler, 27, was born in Charlotte, and currently works and resides in New York City. As a close knit immediate family of three, the Voglers have lived their lives to the fullest during their time spent in both North Carolina and Illinois. Mr. Vogler is also survived by his parents, his brother Don Eugene Vogler, his sister Marilyn Janet Beaulieu, of Chicago, Illinois, mother-in-law Dorothy Jeanette Putz of Fox Point, Wisconsin, sister and brother-in-law Nancy Elizabeth and Charles Nells Busch of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Vogler had over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate and finance. From 2004 until the time of his death, he was the President of The Prime Group, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois. From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Vogler served as the Executive Managing Director of HIGroup (formerly Richard Ellis International), with responsibilities for key client relationships and directed the capital market needs for both the domestic and offshore relationships of the firm. Prior to joining HIGroup, Mr. Vogler worked for Geller & Co. (now Strategic Hotel Capital, Inc.) in Chicago, Illinois as Managing Director of the firm. The firm specialized in the asset management and strategic planning for hospitality assets. From 1979 through 1991, Mr. Vogler worked for NationsBank of North Carolina, (now Bank of America). Mr. Vogler progressed with the bank during his twelve-year tenure and was eventually promoted to the position of Executive Vice President overseeing all lending and real estate functions within the bank for the Southeast region. In 1973, Mr. Vogler commenced his real estate career with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in their Real Estate Finance Department in Springfield, Massachusetts. Mr. Vogler received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University in 1971, and a Masters degree in Urban Affairs from the University of Wisconsin in 1973. Mr. Vogler was a frequent contributor at various industry events in the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Vogler was a member of numerous industry organizations including an active membership on the ULI-UDMUC Silver Council and a member of the Capital Markets Committee of The Real Estate Roundtable. A celebration of Mr. Vogler?s life will be held Thursday August 6, 2009, 3:30pm; Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28207. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
