Lee Audra Soderburg

January 10th, 1936 - July 17th, 2024

Lee Audra Soderburg was born in Nampa, ID on January 10, 1936 to Reese and Garnette Hendry.  She passed away on July 17, 2024 in her sleep at the age of 88. She had two sisters, Sharon Gillen and Sandra Humiston of Nampa, ID (both deceased), two brothers, Billy Hendry of Nampa (deceased) and Alan Hendry of Seattle, WA. As a young girl, she enjoyed the many train trips her family took to Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma and Missouri to visit extended family.

She married Kenneth Musick in 1953 and had four children (Karl, Jerry, Sherrie & Rick). Shortly after her divorce, while attending business school in Boise, she met and married Jerry Soderburg in August of 1961. Shortly after getting married, Jerry, Lee Audra and her four children moved to Grangeville.  Jerry had three girls (Linda, Dianne & Kathy) that joined them in Grangeville in April 1965, which created one large family. After being married for ten years their family grew again as they welcomed a baby girl and named her Jerrie Lee.  Now there were three Jerry’s in the immediate family.

Lee Audra and Jerry lived in Grangeville, Idaho, where they raised beef cattle, wheat, canola and barley.  The entire family helped on the farm.  She learned to drive a truck, hay baler and combine; tended a big garden, and made everything at home - nearly all the family’s food and clothing. She and her husband were active in the local Grange and were named Outstanding Young Couple of 1965 by the Idaho State Grange and competed for the national title in Kansas City. Lee Audra received her GED in 1972.

Lee Audra was widowed in 1991 and soon after moved to Boise.  She loved quilting, crocheting, painting and traveling.  She is a Certified Crochet Teacher through the Crochet Guild of America, and has won ribbons for her paintings and crocheting at the fair.  She enjoyed trips to India, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, and Graceland just to name a few.  She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, card games, and bingo. She was part of the Parkcenter Ward of the LDS Church.

Lee Audra is survived an uncle, Dale Hendry of Boise, ID, her brother, Alan Hendry of Seattle, WA; eight children: Linda (Laird) Merkley and Rick (Nita) Musick of Grangeville, ID, Dianne Soderburg Probert, Karl (Monica) Musick, Jerry (Lynn) Musick of Boise, ID, Sherrie (Brian) Backlin of Meridian, ID, Kathy (Shawn) Bowman of Asotin, WA  and Jerrie Lee Soderburg of Duluth, MN.   She has 22 grandchildren with one preceding her in death, 51 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her services will be held Friday, July 26 at 4 pm. Shortly after a dinner will be served in the reception hall, both at Summers Funeral Home, 3629 E Ustick Road, Meridian, ID 83646.  Burial will be at a later date. Donations can be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City in her memory.  Flowers can be sent to the funeral home.  Cards can be in care of Sherrie Backlin, 985 W. Bacall Street, Meridian, ID  83646.

Rhonda Gillen

So sad to hear about Aunt LeeAudra passing. She was a great aunt and sister. Remember many good times we got together both when she came to visit us with Mom (her sister) and she always made time for us when we were in Idaho visiting. Will always appreciate her checking in on Mom and being a friend as well as a sister to her. Loved seeing her creative crafts, sewing and paintings. Sincere thoughts go out to all my cousins and their extended family. Love, Rhonda
