Leita Kay Koch

September 29th, 1951 - April 14th, 2024

Leita Kay Koch, 72, passed away peacefully at home in Golden Colorado on April 14, 2024 with her loving sister by her side. She was born September 29, 1951 in Denver Colorado to Howard Koch and Una (Bolejack) Koch.

Leita lived in the Golden area her entire life. She graduated from Golden High School and went on to attend Parks Buisness College for her Associates Degree. She spent much of her career working as an Office Manger for Jefferson County and Boulder County Health Departments as well as the City of Arvada.

Above all Leita enjoyed spending time with her family and being in nature and always had her camera on hand to capture those special memories. She named the birds and squirrels that she fed and talked to regularly on her front porch. She loved to travel and was able to visit various places in the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Mexico. She had a special love for the Colorado mountains. One of her favorite places to visit was Rocky Mountain National Park to see the elk and the changing aspens each fall. She also love to go to concerts, and she spent many days and nights at Coors Field cheering on the Colorado Rockies.

Leita is survived by her sister Linette and husband Bruce Walsh, brother Loren and wife Debbie, seven nieces and nephews, sixteen great nieces and nephews, and sixteen great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Dula, and niece Cimberly Koch.

She touched the hearts of everyone that was fortunate enough to know her. She will be truly missed, until the day we will meet again in the Father's house.

What is your favorite memory shared with Leita?

A trip with her to Garden of The Gods! during our visit with her. I will miss our chats on line and the occasional phone call. Rest in peace my friend.

So sad to hear of Leita's passing. We were close friends during our high school years in Golden. We also both attended Parks Business School. Life took us down different paths so I hadn't kept in touch like I wished I had. One memory I have is that Leita and I took our first big trip together to the Hawaiian Islands in 1972 (I think). We visited three islands and had a great time. We laughed a lot , enjoyed the food and mai tais, and flirted with the young tour guides. I especially remember that on the beach in Maui, we both received very bad sunburns. We learned the hard way about sun and beach sand. I thank Linette for contacting me and wish her and the family peace in the knowing that Leita is in a better place with our Lord and Savior.

Tim and I were so sorry to hear of Leita's passing. We have been close friends attending high school together. Our trips home from wherever we happened to be always included a visit with Leita. She stood up for Tim and I at our wedding back in1969 and we will always remember the special person she was. She always reached out when she hadn't heard from us in awhile. We will truly miss her and send our thoughts and prayers to her family.
