JUNCTION CITY — A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Rest Lawn Memorial Park for Lela Geneva Strome of Junction City, who died Dec. 9 of age related causes. She was 97.She was born Sep. 2, 1912, in Cambridge, Idaho, to Archibald and Mary Sherman Kes-ter. She married Gillis Strome on Sept. 30, 1929, in Grants Pass. He died May 1, 1979.At 16, she was valedictorian for the first graduating class at Monroe High School in 1929. She shared in the operation of the family farm and ranch near Junction City.Survivors include four daughters, Geraldine Har-per, Jean Purkerson and Melba Durrant, all of Junction City, and Connie Bradley of Florence; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A daughter, Jimmy Lou, died previously.Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home.
