Lemonia ?Alice? Triantis Polites Mrs. Polites, 81, of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at her home. A native of Marthia, Evrytania, Greece, she was born March 13, 1928, daughter of the late Phillip and Spyridoula Triantis. Mrs. Polites moved with her family to the United States in 1946 and married John Polites on April 27, 1952. Mrs Polites devoted her entire life to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also loved her church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and spent countless hours working on the Greek Festival and even received the Bishop?s prayer to maintain the Holy Altar of the Cathedral. She was a member of the Philotochos Society and the Everytanian Society. In addition to her husband, John, Mrs. Polites is survived by her three children, Alec Polites and his wife, Windy, Maria Wheatley and her husband, Ron, and Loula Plyler and her husband, Jim, all of Charlotte; nine grandchildren, Johann and Evan Wheatley, Robert Wheatley and his wife, Ashley, Lindsay, James and John Robert Plyler, Alexandria Guy and her husband, Derek, and Kinzey and John Polites; great-grandson, Hunter Wheatley; brother, John P. Triantis of Charlotte, NC; and two sisters-in-law, Koula Kanos of Charlotte, NC and Lillian Hamberis of San Francisco, California. Mrs. Polites was preceded in death by a brother Trifon Triantis. Funeral service for Mrs. Polites will be held at Noon on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with Father Michael Varvarelis, Father Efstathios Varvarelis, Father Tommy Vlahos, Father Steve Dalber and Father Gregory Georgiou officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The trisagion will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, June 4, 2009 at the Cathedral. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Polites? grandsons, Evan and Robert Wheatley, James and John Robert Plyler, and John Polites, as well as Nick, Phillip, and James T. Triantis. Honorary pallbearers will be Louie P. Politis, Jimmy Katapodis and Sam Triantis. Memorials may be made to The Philoptochos Society, c/o Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Stuart Garner and Dr. John Pasquini as well as the nurses and staff of Presbyterian Hospital for their loving care. The family also appreciates all the love and support from the many friends and family during Mrs. Polites? illness.
