Lenora Christian Amis
October 14th, 1946 - December 10th, 2015
Lenora Christian Amis, 69, of Surgoinsville went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday afternoon (December 10, 2015) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ER. She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. Lenora was a graduate of Surgoinsville High School in 1964 and was a beautician for several years. She retired in 2011 from the Hawkins County Board of Education having worked at Surgoinsville Middle School. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Surgoinsville where she taught Sunday School and the Special Needs Class. Following retirement, Lenora loved travelling the country with her husband. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Lockie Shelton Christian; a brother, John Christian; sisters, Odell Arnold and Jo Ann Cox; nephews, Terry Arnold, Ronnie Greer, and Scott Cox. Lenora Amis is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, John Amis; her daughter, Tabby Sattler and husband, Thomas; granddaughter, Kayla McPeek and husband, Ryan; grandson, Jason Sattler; great grandson, Holden Sattler; special nieces, Debbie Greer, Kari Hagan, Theresa Christian, Jennifer Leigh Ellis; special nephews, Tracy Arnold, Teddy Cox, Troy Christian, and T. J. Arnold. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (Decmeber 13, 2015) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church of Surgoinsville or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday (December 13, 2015) at 3 p.m. at the church with Pastor Jesse Hartgrove, officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. A graveside service will follow the funeral service on Sunday (December 13, 2015) at Armstrong Family Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. A special thanks goes out to everyone that said a prayer during this time of loss for the family of Lenora Amis. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Amis family.
