February 21st, 1947 - February 18th, 2016
Leo Howard “Andy” Anderson Jr., 68, passed away February 18, 2016 in Olympia, Washington, his home the past 10 years. He was born February 21, 1947 to Ruby Fern Manselle and Leo Howard Anderson Sr. in Wadena, Minnesota. Over the years, Andy also lived in Lakewood, Washington; Redding, California; Tacoma, Washington; and Mississippi. Andy married Marlene Kay Hutchins in 1982 in Rancho Tehama, California. He returned to college at age 50 to further his education and learn new skills in computer programming. He did this not only for himself but he also wanted to show a good example for his grandchildren. Andy worked as a lead carpenter, designing blueprints and building new homes. He was a very hard worker. He also fed the fire at St. Regis to keep it burning. Andy became very spiritual during his battle with cancer, which he fought and won! His home church was located in Lakewood, Washington. Andy enjoyed carving and working with wood. He had an amazing gift and made some beautiful pieces that will be forever cherished. He also enjoyed fishing, listening to music, dancing with his “girls,” riding his Harley and bike, and especially spending time with his family. He was a very special man who is loved and very much missed. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Anderson; son, Robert W. Coates; daughter, Kimberley J. Johnston; four grandchildren, Kassaundra Johnston, Brianna Johnston, Diaundra Johnston, Nicole Chamberlin and Misty Coates; four great grandchildren; brother, Leroy; and sisters, Marlene, Mary and Margie. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Lawrance; and sister, Mary. Please leave memories of Andy or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
