Leon Joseph Gendron
August 17th, 1931 - March 23rd, 2013
Lee age 81, was born on August 17, 1931 in Onawa Maine the son to Albert and Bernadette Gendron. He went home peacefully to the Lord on March 23, 2013. He attended school at a convent in Jackman Maine. He had to board at a convent as his father worked for the Pacific Railroad in Canada where no schools were available. After the eighth grade in order to attend high school he lived with his Aunt and Uncle in Jackman Maine. After graduation he moved to Connecticut and worked in a Ford garage. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 an served five years during the Korean War. While in the Air Force he was stationed at MacDill Air Force base and spent every day off at Clearwater Beach. He fell in love with Florida and the beach. He met the love of his life, Pat at a diner in 1955 and it was love at first sight. They were married January 20th 1956. They were true lovers for 57 years. He retired from the US Postal service in 1988 as a letter carrier with 31 years of service. The travels they enjoyed together will always be remembered. They took many Tauck Tours, trips to Vegas, Biloxi, many cruises and they traveled all around the country spending summers in Lac Megantic Canada visiting his sister. His priorities were his family, hunting and fishing. Hunting and fishing started for him at an early age in Maine. He said hunting for deer in Maine was necessary for food on the table and fishing was a sport he loved. He was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Pat, daughters Katie Gendron Miller and Bernie Gendron Barrett, son-in-law Bruce Barrett, two grandchildren Heather Barrett Turcsanyi (Jason) and Amber Barrett McGuire (Travis), great granddaughter Berlyn Rose Turcsanyi with another little Turscanyi due in September of this year and great grandson Keegan Lee McGuire, his sister Irene Jacques his nephew Michel Jacques, his stepsister Colette Lachance (Leo), his stepbrother Phillppe Giguere (Denny) who all live in Canada along with several cousins living in Canada and the United States. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Friday (March 29, 2013) at the David C. Gross Funeral Home in Clearwater, where friends will be received from 9:30 until service time. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to Suncoast Hospice. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Belcher Road Chapel in Clearwater is serving the family.
