Leon Russell, 81, of Evans, Co passed away May 4, 2012 at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born October 24, 1930 in Egg Harbor, NJ. He grew up in Oberlin, OH and graduated from Oberlin High School in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was station all over the world. Leon was also involved in the Vietnam conflict and retired as a Sergeant after twenty years of service. On November 28, 1975 Leon married Marian Carrick in Fairview, OH. Leon enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and camping. He loved going to flea markets and collecting miscellaneous items. His family will remember him as warm, sensitive, courageous, honorable, loyal, and a hero. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Fishing Club of America and NRA. Leon is survived by his wife, Marian; children, Karen (Jeff) Allen of Kissimmee, FL, Sally (Ron) Moorhead, of Greeley, Stephen Russell of Kentucky, Kellie (Joey) Wisher of Oberlin; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, May 10, 2012.
