Leon Wiles
November 8th, 1922 - November 7th, 2013
Truman Leon Wiles, 90, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Wexford House, Kingsport. He was born in Lake City, AR, and moved to Kingsport in 1932. He was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran having served in North Africa, Korea and the Philippines. He retired from Mead Corporation after over 40 years of service. He was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for over 62 years. He was on the building and grounds committee, as well as other areas of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lawanda Shipley Wiles, January 2012; parents, Garland L. and Mollie Parsons Wiles; brother, John Wiles; niece, Tamara Hutton. Survivors include his son, Bryan Wiles & wife Donna of Murfreesboro, TN; four grandchildren, Julie Smith & husband Steve of Lebanon, TN, Andrew Wiles & wife Amanda of Talbott, TN, Michael Brown & wife Sara of Murfreesboro and Amanda Vann & husband Johny of Austin, TX; four great grandchildren; sister, Joy Hutton and husband Kellar of Kingsport; brother, Don Wiles and wife Marjorie of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Margaret Wiles of Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2013 Temple Baptist Church, 2200 Memorial Court, Kingsport, TN 37660. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm at the church with Pastor Brian Schuler, officiating. A eulogy will be offered by Bryan Wiles. Music will be provided by T. Vernon McCray and Mary Barker. Military graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport with American Legion Hammond Post #3/#265 conducting the rites. Pallbearers are Lynn Smith, Mark Addington, Archie Pierce, Eddie Pierce, Jack Upchurch and Henry Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church (Building Fund), 2200 Memorial Court, Kingsport, TN 36770. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Wiles family.
