KAPLAN, Leonard, “Len”, 88, of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Canada in 1976. He came to Florida in 1999. Len was a United States Army Veteran, serving in WWII and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Veterans of Battle of the Bulge, worked and served in several occupations and his favorite was teaching high school and university students. He is survived by his wife, Deanna; son, Jonathan and his wife, Jayne of St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada, two stepdaughters, Susan Hardy and Rodney Whitcomb of Kalamazoo, MI and Pamela Schmidt and her husband, Tony of Virginia Beach, VA.; three grandchildren, Raylyn, Paige and Hailey. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. His final resting place will be at the Florida National Cemetery.
