LeRoy "Andy" Edward Anderson

Leroy “Andy” Anderson, 87, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Born in Loveland on May 9, 1937 to Theodore and Grace Anderson, Andy was a staple in the community. After graduating from Loveland High School in 1955, Andy was devoted to serving and helping others throughout his life. 

Andy was a talented high school athlete, participating in football, basketball and baseball. It was his love of basketball that carried into his adult life. He participated in a men’s basketball league as a young man and later in life could often be found in the stands supporting his grandchildren or just enjoying any one of the local high school’s basketball games.

As a community leader, Andy began his service on the Loveland Volunteer Fire Department in 1966. He worked his way up the ranks, earning the position of Fire Chief from 1979-1981. Upon retiring, Andy continued to serve on the Rural Fire Protection Board until 2022. Andy was dedicated to the fire community for 56 years.  

Andy was also an entrepreneur, starting his own plumbing business and working in that trade to his retirement. He had many passions which included serving on the LMAA Board, as well as being a member of the National Street Rod Association, the Northern Colorado Classic Cruisers, and a local assistant for the Good Guys car shows. In his free time, Andy enjoyed building and restoring classic cars.

Andy leaves behind three sons: Gary and wife Yvonne; Michael, and wife Julia, and two grandchildren, Evan and Katelyn; Bryan, and partner Miranda and her children, Nathaniel and Vylette. Andy is preceded in death by his son Darin.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Foundations Church in Loveland, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Loveland Fire Department or the Rural Fire Board.
