Leslie Ann Greer
May 2nd, 1952 - September 30th, 2018
Leslie Ann Greer, 66, wife of Thomas Edward Greer, passed away on September 30, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 2,1952 in Lexington, KY to the late Gene Baker McMurray and Jane McAdams (Clemmons) McMurray; she was a lifetime resident of Lexington. Mrs. Greer was a graduate of Tates Creek High School and the University of Kentucky with a double major in Elementary and Special Education, and a Master’s degree in Special Education. She taught what used to be called Trainable Mentally Handicapped children in Scott County at Southern Elementary and Garth Elementary, and later worked for Lexington Christian Academy. She married Tommy on June 20,1975 and enjoyed their 43 years together, and was most proud of their son Russell Glen. She and Tommy shared a love of reading, gardening, music, antiquing, collecting black amethyst glass, and of course UK sports. When asked, Leslie would say the most important things in her life were God, her family, her Fayette church of Christ family, and her very special dog Cooper. Burial will take place at a later date at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, Kentucky. Survivors include her brother Michael Alan and sister-in-law Debbie Lynn McMurray (Houston, TX); two nephews and their families: James Stuart and Angela McMurray and their three children, David, Andrew and Katherine (Austin, TX) and Gene Douglas and Angela McMurray (Houston, TX); and two sisters-in-law Patricia Greer (Lexington, KY) and Glenda Greer (Arlington, VA). Funeral services will be held on October 4, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Legacy Center in Frankfort, KY and officiated by three of her beloved brethren in the faith: Sid Latham, Wayne Galloway and Dan Galloway. Visitation will begin at 5pm. Honorary pallbearers are the following young Christian men with whom she worshipped: Adam Higginbotham, Alex Meier, Mike Strutz, Matthew Collins, Andrew Shearer, Nate Shannon, Jad Morris, Craig Usher, and Adam Crusott. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sacred Selections (sacredselections.org), a charity supported by Leslie and Tommy.
